Wind turbine development in the north of Scotland

This project, carried out with the James Hutton of Aberdeen for Scottish Natural Heritage developed a series of decision rules to be applied by GIS in relation to different aspects of landscape character and visual sensitivity. It represents state of the art application of such techniques enabling the results to be rational, robust and repeatable.

Further development of the landscape capacity in order to update local planning guidance, together with Macaulay Institute has been undertaken

Wind turbine assessment

This project, also with the Macaulay Institute of Aberdeen, made a critical assessment of an application (LVIA) to erect wind turbines at Largs in Ayreshire. More recently assessments of LVIAs have been done through a contract with Scottish Natural Heritage

Wind turbine visual impact assessment.

Several projects have been carried out with developers to prepare LVIA of major wind turbine developments in Scotland and England.
